Edinburgh Festival proves success for local actor
    September 7, 2010 by Lyndon
The Edinburgh Festival proved a huge triumph for a local Rutherglen actor who was awarded the top acting accolade at the festival. Scott Kyle, from Rutherglen, beat off stiff competition and was awarded the best actor award by Stage Magazine which is a much coveted award at the festival. The competition was stiff, but Kyle won the top prize for his role in ‘Singin’ I’m No an Billy, He’s a Tim’. He celebrated his award, presented to him the evening before his final performance of the festival, and was still feeling the effects as he took to the stage for the final time. In his celebrated role, he plays a Glasgow Ranger’s mad fan, Billy, although Kyle discovered it was not as easy to perform the part after a night of jubilant celebrations.

  • Calls to crack down on fly posting

Businesses looking for poster printing in Bolton would be wise to consider where they are looking to advertise their company before going ahead, after the deputy leader of Bolton’s Liberal Democrats called for a change in the process to deal with fly posting. Fly posting is an illegal form of advertising but it can be difficult for the council to enforce the laws against it. Bolton Town Hall chiefs have recently been approached by the government’s Communities Secretary and Transport Secretary requesting a clear up of the streets of the town in terms of signage and advertising hoardings in order to make sign posts more effective and clearer for traffic. However, deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats in Bolton, Councillor David Wilkinson, has responded by claiming that the council signs are not the problem in the town but that illegal fly posting can be an issue. He has now called for easier powers to deal with the problem of fly posting in order to crack down on this.
